DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION
Agapanthus africanus 'Glen Avon' flourishes in borders and containers, producing substantial clusters of elongated foliage crowned by spherical umbels of flower-heads during the summer. 'Glen Avon' possesses a lilac bloom with remarkable, intense coloured focal lines in each petal. The word Agapanthus originated from the Greek 'agape' (love) and 'anthos' (flower). The name of this alluring plant is as charming as the blooms themselves. The elevated, refined stems of 'Glen Avon' grasp the pendent blooms for up to six weeks; from the end of July to September, giving considerable and unique interest to your planting. To achieve the best flowering outcome, restrict the roots of your agapanthus, and consequently agapanthus will thrive in containers and pots. Where environments are warmer, with well-drained soil and constricted space, naturalising is straightforward. Agapanthus africanus 'Glen Avon' favours moist, well-drained soil in full sun and is a half-hardy perennial tolerant of temperatures down to -5 degrees.

Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
Easy to grow, pest and disease free, this African Lily grows up to 32 in. tall (80 cm) and 20 in. spread (50 cm).
Thrives in full sun in fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. In a hot climate area, Agapanthus will do better in partial shade. Bear in mind that most varieties will lean toward the sun, which makes a south-facing border the best location. Do not allow plants to dry out except when dormant.

Spectacular when planted in great swathes, this Agapanthus fits most garden settings or mixed borders, makes a fantastic accent plant in containers, and has excellent cut flowers! A great choice for coastal areas as African Lilies cope well with windy and salty air.

Deer and rabbit resistant, it attracts butterflies, bees, and birds.
In late fall remove or tidy up any remaining leaves, but seedheads can be left as they look attractive over winter.

Propagate by division every three to four years in spring.
Agapanthus is native to Southern Africa.
African Lilies are poisonous and should not be consumed by humans and pets.

Product Quality Control Four-level quality inspection system for seeds Level one involves screening and selection of suppliers and initial inspection of commodities. Domestic and foreign suppliers must go through the same quality checks. The three growth stages of flower germination, flowering and fruiting are all observed and tested. During the first stage of inspection, spacing of plants is crucial to ensure that mature flower seeds have the desired morphological characteristics such as color, height, shape, etc. Level two involves seed testing. In laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, the seeds are tested by professionals, with more than 30,000 quality checks per year. If the seed inspection is unqualified, technical refinement and improvement must be used, including procedures such as drying, cleaning, upgrading and re-inspection. Level three involves experimental sowing, carried out on selected plots of land. This stage allows us to understand the specific situation of flower germination, because germination needs to be maintained at a certain level. At the same time, it is possible to check the variety to which each plant belongs and its characteristics.
