El Agapanthus 'Black Buddhist', uno de los lirios africanos más oscuros, es una planta perenne, compacta y caducifolia con grandes racimos redondeados repletos de flores de color azul oscuro en forma de trompeta, cada una adornada con una franja oscura en el centro de los pétalos. Las flores de colores intensos florecen desde mediados hasta finales del verano, y crecen sobre tallos rígidos, erguidos y oscuros sobre grupos de hermosas hojas con forma de tira de un verde intenso. Este Agapanthus compacto es muy adecuado para borduras perennes o para plantar en macetas en balcones, terrazas o patios.

Fácil de cultivar, libre de plagas y enfermedades, este lirio africano crece a partir de rizomas en forma de bulbo de hasta 2-3 pies de alto (60-90 cm) y 2 pies de ancho (60 cm).
Crece a pleno sol en suelo fértil, húmedo y bien drenado. En una zona de clima cálido, el Agapanthus crecerá mejor en sombra parcial. Tenga en cuenta que la mayoría de las variedades se inclinan hacia el sol, por lo que un borde orientado al sur es la mejor ubicación. No permita que las plantas se sequen, excepto cuando estén inactivas.
